Carbon Design Transfer Technique?
I am a leatherworker and have a need to transfer my original digital designs to the leather surface for tooling. The traditional transfer method is to print or trace the design onto transparent or semi-transparent film and then use a stylus to trace the design onto damp leather. This leaves a light image in the leather than can guide the tooling. However, for many designs, the tracing process is tedious and results in a loss of fidelity, which is increased because the design is also cut using a swivel knife before tooling. So one ends up with a copy of a copy. I'd like to find a way to do something like a rub-on transfer but without a lot of wax or adhesive. I basically need to be able to erase any stray lines when I'm done with the swivel knife cutting. I've tried ironing-on a laser-printed design but it's not consistent. Some lines are sharp enough but not all. Any products or techniques you can suggest?
