The Event

The second Annual Hope River Classic was another great success! Last year 300 participants and over 60 volunteers came together, had a lot of fun and raised $28,000 for the Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Association of BC. We would like to extend a huge Thank You! to everyone involved in 2007’s event and we sincerely hope you will come again this year and bring your family and friends as well.

We will be updating the website with more information over the next few weeks, so please come back here again soon and learn how to get involved with this years Hope River Classic.

The Hope River Classic is a fun run, walk, or wheel event to be held on August 16, 2008, to raise funds for the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association of BC (SBHABC). This will mark the third annual event in the Fraser Valley and we are anticipating more participants than ever before.

Also, new this year, the National Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association is contributing resources and support in hosting multiple run, walk and wheel events across the country on August 16, 2008. Please go to www.hopeclassic.ca for more information about the National events and how you can get involved in your own community.

This family-friendly event will begin at the Lions Club Hall (on Hope River road) at 9:45 a.m. The picturesque route will take participants down Kitchen, Fairfield and McSween Roads. This is designed to be a fun, non-competitive event, for in our opinion, Finishing is Winning.

This will be an event for the entire family to enjoy, and those in wheelchairs and strollers are encouraged to participate. Each participant will receive a T-shirt and have the opportunity to win a variety of prizes. A BBQ with music and kid-friendly entertainment will follow in the Hope River Park, adjacent to the Finish Line.

Every year we have an ambassador that helps raise awareness about Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. We will announce the 2008 ambassador here shortly so please check back again soon.
